Requirements of an E-Commerce Website

There have come up a number of modern e-commerce websites are online retail portals for selling products online and it requires various setup processes apart from a PayPal button. For a next level e-commerce site, a website must have a user interface, administration settings, store data in a database and follow a workflow of processes, etc. for giving the customer a better on-line shopping experience and an option of easy payment.

E-commerce is essentially an application that is a bespoke Content Management System (CMS) specialises in updating products and services and supporting commerce functions. Any e-commerce web design has to have product catalogue with the product name, description, cost, stock level, pictures etc. there also has to be an Admin Dashboard by which the website is easily accessible by entering a username and password. Since it is a retail site, there has be a merchant bank account and access to Payment Gateway services.

E-commerce websites also have to store secure data like customer details, emails, card details, etc. that has to be saved securely. To make the website secure, one has to buy an SSL certificate from a web hosting company install it into e-Commerce website that encrypts the web page data. Creating an e-commerce website requires a great amount of planning and a good web design and development company can do that.
